Why I am taking this class

I was born and raised in Northern California into a family that, while having an extensive wine cellar, never had an appreciation for (or knowledge of) wine. I began to appreciate wine more studying in Spain, and even more so after graduation when my wine consumption also graduated from being mostly out of a box. I’ve enjoyed going to Napa and figuring out what I like and don’t like about certain wines, but I’ve always felt like I was playing “dress up” a bit and attempting to make decisions and talk about wine while actually knowing very little.

I am taking this class to learn about the wines themselves, which is certainly a large part of my goal, but also so that I can be more knowledgeable about the industry as a whole. Having been to one class already, while being more aware of all I don’t know,  I am very confident I’ll learn a lot and be able to be more confident in wine ordering, exploring different wines and participating in knowledgeable conversations about the industry by the end of this course.
