I very much enjoyed the first class of Global Dynamics today. Although a neophyte in terms of my wine knowledge my wife and I have enjoyed drinking wine for many years and I have many fond memories associated with my experiences with wine. I have been to Napa for wine tastings frequently and had the opportunity to visit many of the wine estates there( in fact I'm going again this coming weekend). I have also tasted wine on the central coast of California,  in the hill country of Texas, in Australia and in New Zealand. In an effort to learn more about wine, I have begun the five course wine making certificate program at the University of California, Davis and completed the first course. I am particularly fascinated by the process of growing wine grapes and making wine. Unfortunately, my sense of smell is not very good following several surgeries to repair the after-effects of numerous broken noses so I will probably never be able to make wine myself. I still enjoy drinking wine in the company of friends and family as it is the ultimate social beverage. I'm taking the course to augment my knowledge and appreciation of wine. I plan on eventually completing the certificate course and learning more about the mechanics of growing grapes and making wine.

  1. Hi Sam-

So great to hear that you also enjoy wine with your wife. I've never wine-tasted in Texas, but I have enjoyed a trip to wine taste in California. I would love to hear more about your experiences in Australia and New Zealand....#jealous.

I totally empathize with a sense of not having a great sense of smell. I am a SCUBA diver and my sinuses have taken a beating, so I'm hopeful that my continual sinus problems don't impact my ability to adequately smell and taste the wine we get in class.

Here's to an awesome upcoming semester!
