Looking out for Dad's Business

I am excited to take Global Dynamics of the Wine Industry to hopefully gain some insights that could help my dad in his business as a restauranteur and wine bar owner in Chicago.  My dad started his career as a cookie shop owner in the heyday of Mrs. Fields.  When that trend eventually died he was approached to develop a restaurant in the building where he was closing his cookie shops.  20 years later the restaurant is still in business and he opened a wine bar next door a few years ago.  My dad is a very scrappy, smart, and capable business operator but I would love to learn a few things about the wine industry that could help him run a more profitable or best practice business.

Personally, I am interested in taking this class because of the parallels to the retail industry.  My background is in apparel inventory management so I am very curious to learn more about how this function fits into the supply chain of the wine industry.

I'm also a proud drinker of California wine in the same way my dad used to insist on buying American-made cars.  I look forward to learning more about an industry that plays such an important role in my local economy.
