Our daily red

A love of wine is something my parents instilled in me. They don't know a thing about it, just that they like it, and they serve it most nights. "A glass a day..." or so they say. It's my drink of choice and a pretty established part of me (my name is Caitlin, I grew up in Maine, I'm addicted to coffee, I love red wine...), but I, like my parents, really don't know a whole lot about it. I'm unfamiliar with the history, the industry dynamics, the global interactions, and most of the wines that aren't red. I don't even know how to pair wines with food, or pick a good option for sipping alone. I'm hoping this class will equip me with a few tools to both use in my day to day, and to discuss and share with family and friends.

In addition to being aware of how woefully uninformed I am and wanting to address that, I am also intrigued by the industry from a product perspective. It's an extremely nuanced market, and I am really interested in learning how different wineries around the world differentiate themselves from similar products and navigate global regulations and branding challenges, and how they have adapted to changing challenges over time.

Looking forward to the coming quarter - cheers!
