Great food - Great wine - Great company

Wine to me is so much more than just an (alcoholic) beverage. For me it means enjoyment, great conversations, relaxing, fond memories and a continuous challenge of my taste buds. During my travels since high school, I made an effort to visit the local wineries wherever I was, which lead me to vineyards in Chile, Germany, Argentina, Austria, South Africa, Australia and the United States. I eagerly soaked up the explanations - and of course tried all the different wines offered.

Recently, I joined the Stanford Wine Society to get a regular exposure to (blind) tasting a large variety of different wines. Additionally, with a sommelier as housemate I have had the pleasure to try many good wines. That is one reason why I want to learn more in a structured, professional than purely leisurely environment. And, lastly, I deem wine knowledge and experience as indispensable for my post-GSB job(s), e.g. when properly choosing the wine for a nice dinner or just knowing the lingo for small talk.

In the long term I can totally imagine owning a vineyard on the side - but we never know where life takes us...
